What the first release includes, and what follows it.
The first public release of Grapple is for Windows x64. It is a portable download with a published checksum, and it doesn't need a Grapple account. This page lists what it covers and the work already scheduled after it.
In the first release
- Editor
- Timeline editing and trimming, Stage compositing with masks and mattes, text and shapes, keyframes and the Graph editor, Puppet, 3D layers with lights and cameras, audio levels, and MP4 export in SDR or HDR.
- Create
- A storyboard, and pages for images, image edits, video, music, sound effects and voice using the models you connect.
- Ape
- Conversation models from provider presets, from Codex or Claude Code on your own sign-in, or from a local server. Skills for longer pieces, a visible plan, review on the Stage and Undo run.
- Corrections
- Roto with subject, vector and paint masks, tracking and per-frame repair, using included local models. Transcript correction with captions that follow the transcript.
- Code
- Property scripts, and custom effects in GLSL and Python.
- Distribution
- A portable ZIP for Windows x64, listed with its version, size and SHA-256 on the download page.
Still being finished for that release
Folders for organising media in the Project panel, a second viewer that can be undocked and moved to another screen, and a more compact layout for Properties are in progress. The development notes record changes as they land.
After the first release
- Depth correction
- Depth correction will let you fix an estimated depth map with the same kind of tools used for roto masks, and the effects that use it will follow the correction.
Try it on footage you already know.
Pick a short clip and one job, such as a lower third or a trimmed opening. The getting-started guide takes you from import to an exported file.
